Kuch meetha ho jaye
Festivals and sweets go hand in hand in Hindustan.... 5 years since I celebrated any festival in India...Rakhi the ” behna ney bhai ki kalai per pyaar bandha hai” festival was celebrated yesterday across India
In my NRI avatar..... I have my coffee... tea ...milk without sugar... Hardly any ice-cream or cakes or chocolates.... Yesterday had enough sweets to compensate for my 5 years of abstinence... Was hyper active like a child who had too much candy...... Jumping around the house filled with too much sugar .....
No country in the world can compete with India in the variety of sweets available.... So it was a feast of ladoos..... burfis.... gulab jamuns... rassgulas.... kalakands... etc . And in tune with times we had some new more modern entrants.... I think Cadbury should feel proud about the “kuch meetha ho jaye” campaign..... Coz they have successfully made an entrance on the puja ki thali.... Had chocolates... Easter eggs.... Oreos.... exotic biscuits (as long as they did not have eggs in them) along with the traditional sweets (as if they weren’t enough already)....
But it was the sweetness of meeting the family... The smiles that show they are just pleased to see you.... The blessings that are priceless.... The chit chat about the times that were.... the times to come... and the time that are.... Can never have too much of it...
