Real captialism is true socialism

Two most dominant ideologies on economics are capitalism and socialism. Capitalism talks of free market, its a system where private ownership of business is promoted.. Profit is the real motive here. In socialism equal distribution of wealth and services is the driving thought.

In my recent trip to India... I couldn't help but notice the usage of mobile phones. Everyone I knew was carrying one. Nothing surprising there with the new Indian economy its easy for the middle class to afford multiple mobile phones. But the real story was the ownership of phones by the masses. People who are well below the middle class line. Workers with annual incomes less than 3000 USD were carrying these phones. The phenomenon was not just restricted to the big Indian cities but visible across the country. People in small towns and villages were carrying phones plus they were using it to promote their services.

For example the auto rickshaw driver in Bangalore who dropped me off from the airport gave me his mobile phone number and said give me a call whenever you are ready to go back. Or the domestic help at my house gave her number to my mum in case she needed her to come early or late. I haven't seen a revolution but it seems India is going through a telecom revolution of sorts.

For the first time since the Independence of the country. There is a service which has removed all classes. A service which is used by the super rich to the very poor. Without the government having to subsidise it or force people to use it.

How did it happen.. It was achieved by making the markets free and open to competition. It achieved what years of subsides and regulation couldn't achieve. A service where rates keep going down for the consumers and profits go up for the corporates. An equal distribution of the services with private ownership.
