Movies I liked but the public did not

Over the years there have been movies which were great but for some reason were not a box office success. Here is a list of some I liked

Lakshay

Farahan Akhtar had a lot to live up to after making a debut with Dil Chahta hai. Lakshay was his second movie. People said not another war movie…. we had enough of India Pakistan etc etc… But if they thought that this movie was about India Pakistan…. God they couldn’t be more wrong. Lakshay was what the name says…. It was about a guy who finds his aim in life and goes after it… The screenplay, the music the acting… I absolutely detested Hritik Roshan before this…. Kaho na pyaar hai was probably the most over rated movie ever….But Lakshay is definitely by far his best work to date…. A1 direction… beautiful movie.

Swadesh

Another great director of modern times… Ashutosh Govitrikar… His first movie almost won him an oscar… Swadesh was Sharukh Khan’s attempt to move out of Kuch Kuch hota hai…. Kab kyu hota hai… Kahan hota hai and what not… He had made some sorry attempts at changing his image from the NRI lover boy but failed miserably… But Swadesh was different…. Great plot… Good acting… nice music and an ending which seemed plausible

Khosla Ka Ghosla

Coming from delhi I could identify with all the characters in the movie… Becharay uncle (Anupam Kher)… The good for nothing elder son (Ranvir)… I want to escape from here younger son (Parvin Dabas)…. The typical Punjabi property dealer (Boman Irani)… The plot was funny yet so real… No foreign locations… no big stars… no extravagant sets… just good acting… good direction and for once director knew what he wanted to show.

Life in a metro

The interlinking of stories…. of relationships… Good portrayal of our modern lives…Irfan Khan was brilliant as always… Konkona Sen was good so was Sharman joshi…. But the best was the director who never lost the plot and showed what is as it is…. Without any regular masala of the trash that comes out of bollywood.
