Chak de India

Only reason I wanted to watch this movie , it was shot in Melbourne. Expecting to see the routine bollywood affair. I came out pleasantly surprised. Movie on the whole was ok. Definitely worth a watch.
This is not a review of the movie but just a highlight of the typical Indian behaviour as seen by the filmmaker.

1. People from north east are INDIANS too. They are called chinks, nepalis … They are treated as foreigners (actually even worse) in their own country (esp. the capital of the country)..

2. Your native language or “mother tongue” (as called in India) is not the language spoken by every one in India. People outside Punjab will not know Punjabi, outside maharastara will not speak matrathi… Accept it …more importantly respect it.

3. Maharastra alone is nothing, Punjab alone is nothing. Hum hi hum hai to kya hum hai.. Tum hi tum ho to kya tum ho.. Your state is not your country….

4. We as a nation are happy being second best.. For us coming second is doing well.. Getting a bronze is an achievement…. We take part for the sake of participating..

They are few of the many problems we have . But despite them there is something about this country which is fascinating.. Which defies logic.. Which makes me wonder.. How the hell are we sticking together… Is it the culture , society that is India… or the common values that we share as people from north to south ..East to west…

TIMES magazine put India on its cover… Acknowledging the 60years of its Independence.. Acknowledging the progress we have made despite the challenges we face…

Sitting thousands of miles away from this timeless land on a sunny Wednesday afternoon…

Happy Independence Day
