Indians living outside India. The so called NRIs. Tend to show some peculiar social habits. Habits which I believe are common to all Indians living in any country except India.
Everyone is racist towards Indians :- A simple incident to illustrate the point.. Like India every big store here checks the bags of every leaving customer. Anyways two Indian chicks both carrying huge handbags, walking out of a store were stopped by the guard. The bags were checked and they were allowed to proceed. I happen to be standing rite behind them overheard one of them saying in Hindi “These aussies are such racist. Of all the people they had to check our bags coz we are Indians”. Hmmm true ladies, maybe the $8 dollar an hour guard is not a guard but a member of lets drive Indians out of our land club… Or maybe the management of the store had given him instructions to check every one who has a brown skin tone and talks loudly. Or the instructions were as simple as please check the bags of every1 leaving the store…
It’s funny when we accuse others of being racist… When we meet a fellow Indian. The first question asked, where in India. Based on the response a racial profile is created even before another word is spoken. The region were you come from then decides if you will hang out, talk, live with that person or not. It’s the same be it Pune or Melbourne.
I see you. You see me but we dint see anything:- This phenomenon is something which an Indian living outside India will only know. In the vast sea of unknown faces everyone searches for a familiar face. In a country which has white, yellow, black faces. The brown becomes the familiar face. So you are walking down the road looking for the face. You see them, They see you coz like you they are looking for that recognizable face. And then the sudden movement of the eyes away from each other. Like I just saw a ghost… why ?Don’t know and I do it too.
Personal entertainment:- Mobile phones capable of playing mp3s. The devices were built so that you can have occasional listening to the music while commuting with A HEAD PHONE. But we tend to believe in the concept of sharing our music. Maybe it’s our way of showing others how great our culture is… Group of Indians walk in to a bus all playing different songs on their mobile phones with the speakers on… So it comes out as an irritating mix of jazzy b asking a Punjabi girl to dance and munna bhai looking for his dream girl with sharukh khan singing kabhi alvida na kehna…. Guys please we do not need this after a hard day of work. Next time use head phones.
All white girls are easy:- The day a guy in India gets his visa. All he dreams of is having fun with the goris. Maybe it’s the movies we watch or I don’t know but every Indian guy thinks” White girls are easy”. So he reaches the dream land with hopes of finally loosing his…. Going to the first party…. Will there be girls? Goris?.. Yes of course this is not India were a party is 10 guys getting drunk and dancing to anything… Hmmm this cud be my lucky night. So he walks into the party …. Takes three shots of scotch. Approaches the girl with least amount of clothes on. And says Hi Myself Ramu from India Can I make friendship with you…. That is the precise moment when Ramprasad from India realizes that he will have to wait longer… much longer….
